Our projects
Stichting Afropeans is constantly developing and engaging in projects to fulfil its aims and goals.
The Afropean Top 100
"If we don't celebrate ourselves, who will?"
Afropean 100 will recognise and celebrate 100 people of African origin who, in their own ways, are contributing positively to both the European and the African society. In addition and since by definition Afropeans are not an island by themselves, the intention is to celebrate at least 2 people of European origin who have in their own ways facilitated the empowerment of The Afropean in The Netherlands and/or Europe.
The plan is not to make this another award ceremony but a celebration of the Afropean culture, diversity, and economic contribution to both continents. In short, a celebration of whom we are!
This will be an annual celebration of the contributions of people of African origin to both continents we hold dear.
A 5-minute video profile of all the 100 Afropeans will be made to enhance visibility. These individuals are from all works of life are contributing positively publicly or privately, visibly or quietly to both the African and the European continent.
In subsequent years, the first 100 Celebrants will become the members of the Afropean 100 academy that will nominate the next 100.
Invitations will be sent out starting in April 2022.

Oost-West Rotterdam Best?
Het Project
Stichting Afropeans wil de integratie, zichtbaarheid en participatie van Europeanen van Afrikaanse afkomst in de Nederlandse samenleving in het bijzonder en in Europa in het algemeen faciliteren.
Met dit project gaat Stichting Afropeans ca. 30 jongeren in de leeftijd tussen 16 – 30 jaar, wonende in Rotterdam, van Afrikaanse afkomst vastleggen door een videograaf/fotograaf. Hierbij vertellen zij, in het kort, hun eigen verhalen en hoe zij hun plaats binnen de Rotterdamse samenleving zien. Welke mogelijke hinder ondervinden zij door hun etnische afkomst. Hoe denken zij, dat Afropeanen ook gelijke kansen kunnen krijgen binnen deze maatschappij. Deze 30 Afropeanen zullen mensen zijn met verschillende achtergronden met betrekking tot onderwijs, werk, culturele, politieke, religieuze, seksuele voorkeuren. Aan het einde gaan de jongeren in gesprek met leeftijdsgenoten van een andere etniciteit over thema’s zoals, racisme, discriminatie en gelijke kansen.
Het project gaat in november 2021 beginnen en neemt ca. 2 maanden in beslag. Het resultaat en tussentijds verloop zal op alle sociale media kanalen en website van Stichting Afropeans worden geplaatst en verspreid.
